Our Occupational & Cognitive Therapy Room: Materials and Spaces

Our newly renovated occupational & cognitive therapy room is set up so children can start with activities they love and move on to new challenges.

Take a look inside the newly renovated occupational & cognitive therapy room at the Ssukssuk Child Development Institute. From the furniture layout to the learning materials and toys, storage, and activity areas, every part of this room was prepared so children can join in feeling comfortable and having fun.

A space kids look forward to, even on day one

A wide mirror, colorful number mats, and shelves set at a child's eye level make the first impression. We decorated the room to feel bright and warm, so a child walking in for the first time is less likely to feel nervous or out of place and more likely to wonder what fun activity comes next.

What each material is for

We stock materials children can choose based on their interests and developmental level: blocks, toy cars, hands-on manipulatives, and art and craft supplies. To the children it feels like play, but along the way these materials help build focus, fine motor control, visual perception, and the ability to plan and finish a task.

From favorite activities to new challenges

Activities in the room start with something the child already enjoys, then gradually step up to new challenges. In this new space, our goal is to watch closely for each child's small changes and growth, think carefully about the therapy direction each child truly needs, and provide care that is more attentive and well-structured.
