About prolotherapy

Prolotherapy uses a concentrated dextrose solution. Suitability depends on the diagnosis and treatment response; the same result cannot be expected for every type of pain.

When to seek a consultation

  • Shoulder and elbow painWe assess pain when lifting the arm or gripping and examine the joints and ligaments.
  • Back and knee painWe assess the cause of pain and movement before discussing treatment options.
  • Wrist and ankle painFor recurring pain or sprains, we first assess the affected area and its condition.
  • Pain while breastfeedingTell us if you are breastfeeding and which medicines you take. Injection suitability is assessed at your visit.

What treatment involves

A plan based on diagnosis
Injection sites and composition are selected according to the painful area and injury.
Outpatient injections
Treatment is provided without hospitalization. Follow the activity guidance given at your visit.
Ultrasound guidance
Ultrasound is used to check the injection site. Pain or other adverse reactions may occur afterward.

Precautions

  • Pain may rise for 1–3 days after injectionPain may increase temporarily after treatment. Contact the clinic if it is severe or persists.
  • Common precautions for injectionsAfter injections, headache, dizziness, swelling or rash may occur; rarely bleeding/infection — consult us if symptoms persist.

FAQ

Using dextrose does not make the procedure risk-free. Injection-site pain or bruising may occur. We discuss expected benefits and risks before deciding on treatment.
